S
tockton has to be one of
the luckiest cities in Cali-
fornia and probably the world
because of Tandoori Nites. It’s an
Indian cuisine restaurant where
their entrées satisfies the palettes
of those who love it when food
dances in their mouths, and where
a taste of India is what they’ll ex-
perience.
For the last 18 years, owners
Jassi and Simi Singh have been
creating and serving delicious
Indian cuisine, and their family-
run business practices follow the
freshest and healthiest standards
around.
“We only use vegetable oils,
skinless meat with no fat, and
all of our curries are made from
spices, with our bases made from
onions and tomatoes. We never
use lard or MSG (monosodium
glutamate) in our dishes and we
don’t add flour, cornstarch or taste
enhancers,” said Simi Singh, who
manages the front of the house
by waiting tables and cashiering,
while her husband runs the back
of the house as chef.
Tandoori food is cooked in a
tandoori oven – a large open-top
clay oven, typically found in the
