the counter stools and old style booths. It
has such character. The newer section is
just as beautiful, if not more so, with all the
original Mexican artifacts.
Two items on their menu jumped out
at me, so I had to ask about their Police
Special and Popeye Special. I would share
what those are, but I’ve decided to let you
nd out for yourself! Another thing that
caught my eye was their vast choice of
half orders. I love when a restaurant o ers
that. Plus there is no extra cost for request
changes to a meal.
More than a café, more like a restaurant,
breakfast, lunch and dinners are served at
reasonable prices. From green enchiladas
with cheese, tacos and tostadas to chi-
laquiles with meat, Guillermo states on
his menu, “Say ‘no’ to drugs, burritos say
‘yes’!” Catering is also on the menu, for
special events, weddings, you name it.
Terry and Guillermo are incredible hu-
manitarians to not only their communi-
ty of Pittsburg, but beyond East County
as well. When the Oakland Bay Bridge
fell during the 1989 Loma Prieta earth-
quake, Guillermo knew someone who
worked in the area, loaded up his truck,
and drove hundreds of burritos there. If
there’s a big re in Pittsburg, he’s tak-
ing food to the re ghters. This family
also feeds the homeless. Guillermo was
awarded Citizen of theYear, and is close,
personal friends with athletes from the
49ers, Oakland A’s, and San Francisco
Giants. Yet with all of his accomplish-
ments and connections, I have never
met a more humble individual.
From great food and service to a
warm, family atmosphere, Guillermo
gave me some unforgettable advice.
“It is not our responsibility to give
to others, it is our responsibility to share
with others,” he said.
